WHY SUPPORT SVFF

DISCOVER THE
IMPACT
OF YOUR SUPPORT

15 YEARS. ONE MISSION. YEAR-ROUND.

The Sun Valley Film Festival is a nonprofit dedicated to celebrating cinema, supporting artists and enriching the cultural life of the Wood River Valley. Through funding, mentorship and year-round programs, SVFF champions creatives at every stage of their journey.

Fifteen years ago, SVFF began with a simple idea: bring exceptional films and the people behind them to Sun Valley, creating a place where filmmakers, audiences and industry connect. Join us in supporting their stories and be part of our year-round cinematic programs and events.

WHAT WE DO

  • A five-day, world-class film festival

  • Year-round events with visiting artists

  • The only film grant in Idaho

  • One of the Valley’s largest nonprofit economic drivers

  • Four filmmaker competitions

  • Mentorships and screenings for emerging filmmakers

  • Film-centered culture for the Wood River Valley

IMPRESSIVE RESULTS

Fifteen years of screenings, conversations and filmmaker visits have built a community of audiences, artists and supporters, along with these results.

  • $4.5M
generated for the Valley’s economy each year (estimated)

  • $65K+
given to emerging filmmakers to shoot in Idaho (1 Potato)

  • $100K+
raised to hire Idaho crew and work with local small businesses

  • 120+
Idaho crew, craftspeople and artists hired

  • 14
SVJr Hot Shot Award winners from thousands of student films

  • 30+
emerging screenwriters given mentorship and industry access

  • 7
High Scribe winners securing paid writing work and representation

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

  • Access for young people. SVJr puts high school students on a professional film set and into the Festival, with student pass benefits and internships.

  • A cultural home for the Valley. Where great films, artists and audiences meet in conversation, and creative ideas thrive.

  • A stronger Idaho creative economy. 1 Potato keeps production, paying work and local business relationships in Idaho.

  • Lasting industry connections. Filmmakers, audiences and industry build and sustain long-term relationships that open doors well beyond the Festival.

  • A community-supported mission. Every level of giving enhances the Festival, its year-round programs and the Sun Valley community.
